The Azrieli Music Prizes 2028 - Call for Proposals
Created in 2014 by Sharon Azrieli CQ, D.Mus for the Azrieli Foundation, the Azrieli Music Prizes (AMP) offer opportunities for the discovery, creation, performance and celebration of excellence in music composition. For the 2028 edition, there are three Prizes for chamber music: the Azrieli Commission for Jewish Music; the Azrieli Commission for Canadian Music; and the Azrieli Commission for International Music.
Open to the international music community, AMP accepts applications for works from individuals of all ages, backgrounds, nationalities, faiths and genders.

The Azrieli Commission for Jewish Music invites composers to creatively and critically engage with the question, “What is Jewish music?”
The Azrieli Commission for Canadian Music
The Azrieli Commission for Canadian Music invites Canadian composers to propose new musical works that embrace the complexities of composing in Canada today.
The Azrieli Commission for International Music
The Azrieli Commission for International Music invites composers worldwide to deeply engage in a creative interplay of cultures that have meaningful connections to their lived experience.

When is the next Call for Proposals (CFP)?
The next CFP takes place between February 4 and May 6, 2026. The winning composers for each Commission (each a laureate) will prepare a new work of chamber music to be performed in Fall 2028. For application and eligibility information, please visit the individual Prize pages.

What do the winners receive?
The three prize packages—valued at $250,000 CAD per laureate—make it the top competition for music composition in Canada and one of the largest in the world. Laureates receive:
A cash prize of $50,000 CAD
A premiere performance in Montreal.
Two subsequent international performances
A commercial quality recording
Who judges the Prizes?
Each Prize has its own independent set of juries comprised of a pool of leading experts that include composers, musicologists, concert presenters, musicians and conductors. Full rosters for each jury, as they are confirmed, can be found on the AMP Prize pages.
